TT Wind Workshop with MEEI
On 23 July 2025, the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) held a key validation workshop to advance the National Wind Energy Action Plan which CEC attended.
Key 2025 TT Wind Energy Developments & Workshops
- Validation Workshop (July 2025): Held at the National Energy Head Office in Couva, this workshop focused on the European Union-funded National Wind Energy Action Plan which CEC was invited to attend with other stakeholders.
- Keynote Address: Dr. The Honourable Roodal Moonilal, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, highlighted wind as a critical resource for utility-scale power.
- Offshore Focus: The Ministry announced it would be issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for an offshore Wind Resource Assessment Programme (WRAP) to complement existing onshore data.
- New Measurement Devices: Two additional wind measurement devices were deployed in 2025 to cover the Los Iros/Santa Flora and Toco/Manzanilla areas.
- Bankable Data Goal: The government aims to have actionable data for investors by 2026, with a target of 2GW of installed wind generation by 2035.
