Gerry Lindo

Gerry Lindo is currently Deputy Chief of Party / Energy Research Specialist  for RTI International, Barbados.  He is leading activities in the English-speaking Caribbean for USAID’s  Caribbean Energy Sector Reform project, a 4½-year USAID project to bolster energy system performance and resilience in 13 Caribbean Countries (spanning CARICOM and the Dominican  Republic).  

Previously he was a Sustainable Energy Expert Caribbean Centre for Renewable (CCREEE)  where he was an Advisor on strategic positioning during the first operational phase of the CCREEE, including the  establishment of regional programmes in renewable energy, climate resilience and emergency  response.

Gerry was also a Project Management Specialist (Energy) for USAID in Jamaica for energy and climate activities under USAID’s Global Climate Change programs. 

He was also an Alternate Board Member (Small Island Developing States) on the Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanism for the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat in Bonn, Germany where he Represented small island states on the regulatory body for the certification of emission reductions  for energy projects under the Kyoto Protocol.  He also appraised and validated emissions reductions for dozens of clean energy projects in the  developing world.

Gerry was a Senior Technical Officer (Mitigation) in the Climate Change Division, Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Jamaica where he was:

  • National coordinator of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction policies.
  • Negotiator for Jamaica for processes under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate  Change (UNFCCC).
  • Lead author and project manager for development of Jamaica’s first Nationally Determined  Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement. 

He was also a Senior Energy Engineer, Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy & Mining, Jamaica and was the lead officer for renewable energy policy and low-carbon strategy and led revision of national policies on waste to energy and biofuels.
