Caribbean Association of Banks
Wendy Delmar is the Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Association of Banks, which is the leading advocate for and on behalf of the Members which span 20 territories, providing networking and training opportunities and also furnishing relevant and up to date information on matters arising in the Sector.
Prior to this present role, Wendy simultaneously held the positions of President of the St Lucia Banker’s Association and Branch Manager of the then Scotiabank, having served their customers for almost 25 years. Wendy firmly believes that having started her career as a teller-and having to interact with so many persons on a daily basis assisted her growth and readiness as a leader, as she assumed various senior roles including training employees across the region in new software and program implementation, corporate and commercial lending and pioneering a new position with the Bank as the Home Mortgage Specialist.
Wendy then moved onto the role which truly assisted in igniting her true passion as Manager Coaching Retail and Small Business in Barbados at the Managing Directors Office with responsibility for Barbados, Grenada, St Vincent, Dominica, Anguilla, St Maarten, St Lucia and St Kitts.
In 2015, Wendy moved into the role of Branch Manager Castries, which is the 2nd largest retail operation in Caribbean East, making Wendy the youngest female to rule such a large operation for Scotiabank in the CE.
During the Scotiabank timeline, Wendy also became the mother of three boys, incorporated a Small Business making local rum cakes and attained a Masters in Global Human Resource Management.
Still not satisfied and wanting to actualize more, Wendy shifted her sights on Banking seeking a deeper understanding of what makes indigenous Banks tick and what the major challenges are, hoping to bring her insights and experience in International Banking to bear and to redound for the benefit of our own economies and as it is commonly said, the rest is History.
Recently, Wendy acquired a Charter Directors certification, as she believes that we should never become comfortable or complacent with where we are. We must continue to push boundaries and be relentless in our pursuit of the “best version of ourselves”.
Personally Wendy is motivated by things that would ordinarily be categorized by life altering events and always remembers the words written by one of her former teachers and associates on her graduation from her Alma Mater the Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School “Do not go where the path takes you, go instead and blaze your own.”
