Guyana Energy Conference 2025
Eugene Tiah, CEC CEO attended the Guyana Energy Conference this February.
The theme of the conference was, Connecting the Dots: Integrating the future. There was a strong line up of feature speakers including:
- His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister, Qatar (Virtual remarks)
- His Excellency Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona, President, Dominican Republic
- His Excellency Ivan Duque, Former President of Colombia
- His Excellency, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President, Co-operative Republic of Guyana
- Michael Pompeo, Former Secretary of State and former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, the United States of America
All spoke in glowing terms of the progress of Guyana in developing its oil and gas resources while sustaining its current net zero position. There was a focus on building strong partnerships. Examples were provided of the many partnerships that Guyana has forged to date which includes partnerships with the Dominican Republic, Canada, Qatar, EU, USA and Caricom and updates were provided on the progress on the scope of activities under those partnership agreements.
Updates were provided on current oil and gas developments and the progress on awarding new blocks for exploration and production. Detailed updates were provided by Exxon Mobil on their current and expected future oil production profile and deployment of additional FPSOs.
The Gas To Shore Team provided an update on the progress on the installation of 300 MW of power generation and the associated gas processing projects including an update on Phase 2 which will include another 250 MW of power generation with 20 MMSCFD of gas available for downstream projects. There was also some discourse on regional collaboration particularly related to energy and food security and the role that Guyana could play.
